jewellery care

Your jewellery is a delicate item and should be treated with care.  It is not unusual for your jewellery to scratch and mark over time due to day-to-day activities.  To ensure your jewellery remains in as good a quality as possible, follow the guidelines below.

  • Remove jewellery when showering, bathing, and sleeping.

  • Keep jewellery away from extreme temperatures and humidity.  Avoid exposure to salt and chlorinated water.

  • Protect your pieces from sharp blows, dropping, scratching, and denting.  Stones can break if dropped or struck against surfaces and should be treated with care.

  • Avoid wearing jewellery when doing physical work such as housekeeping, gardening or exercise.  Heavy lifting and carry with rings on can risk the overall structure and stability of your piece and can lead it to becoming misshapen.

  • Never expose jewellery to household cleaning products and other chemicals, especially bleach and highly reactive solutions.

  • Remove jewellery when applying make-up, hair products and creams to avoid the residue getting into the texture, gemstone setting or onto the 3D printed material.  Any residue can dull the shine of your jewellery.  Avoid spraying perfume or hairspray on jewellery.

  • Store your jewellery in a clean, dry space, away from sunlight.  If storing your jewellery long term you can put it in an airtight zip-lock bag to keep it away from moisture.  Store your pieces separately to avoid scratching or tangling of chains.

  • Sterling silver naturally oxidises over time through exposure to air and the chemicals and oils of your skin.  To clean your metal jewellery, scrub lightly with a soft-bristled brush, warm water, and mild detergent-free soap.  Do not use abrasive materials on your jewellery as it will scratch the surface of your piece.  To maintain the shine your jewellery, use a jewellery polishing cloth regularly.
